MMA is generally regarded as one of the toughest sports in the world. 1: David Rickles vs Michael Venom Page:

Michael Venom Page is known for delivering his fair share of flashy knockouts. It may surprise some of you to know that he actually made one of his opponents quit as well, David "The Caveman" Rickles, who faced off against MVP at Bellator 200. In truth, this fight was a complete mismatch, with MVP having his way with Rickles throughout the bout, landing at will, taunting him, and even dropping him during the opening round. When Page connected with a massive right hand in the second round, opening up a nasty cut above his opponent's left eye, David Rickles decided to call it quits, waving the fight off just seconds later. He would later confess that MVP broke and embarrassed him, resulting in the worst loss of his professional career.

2: Max Roshkov vs Austin Hubbard:

Stepping up for a fight on short notice is never easy, but when Max Roshkov took on Austin Hubbard on less than one week's notice for his UFC debut, it sadly produced an unfortunate outcome for the young fighter. The first round was close enough, but the second was another story as Hubbard began to take over, dominating the fight and earning a 10-8 on all the scorecards. Once Max went back to his corner, he repeatedly told his coach, Robert Drysdale, to call an end to the contest. Despite his coach encouraging him to continue, the fight was ultimately called off.

3: Roger Huerta vs Ariel Sexton:

Roger Huerta had an excellent run in the UFC during the late 2000s, going 6-2 before parting ways with the promotion. However, one loss that stands out came against Ariel Sexton in 2016 under the ONE Championship banner. The fight itself was highly competitive, but by the third round, it seemed like Roger was fading. After his opponent landed a stiff right hand, he decided that he no longer wanted to continue, calling a stop to the match with roughly a minute left on the clock.

4: Clarene Angelo vs Enzo Silva:

During JF Fight Evolution 13, Clarene Angelo and Enzo Silva produced a moment that cemented its place in the history books. Silva managed to drop his opponent during the opening round before the two tied up against the cage. Suddenly, out of nowhere, Angelo signaled the referee for a timeout, which is not allowed in MMA. The referee wasn't able to accommodate this request, causing Angelo to storm out of the cage, ultimately resulting in confusion and Angelo leaving the fight.

5: BJ Penn vs Georges St-Pierre:

The main event for UFC 94 was a rematch between welterweight champion Georges St-Pierre and lightweight champion BJ Penn. While Penn had some mild success in round one, the rest of the fight was dominated by St-Pierre, who used his superior grappling to control and punish Penn. After the fourth round, Penn decided to call it off, letting his corner throw in the towel, with St-Pierre being declared the winner.

6: Diego Brandao vs Ahmed Aliev:

Diego Brandao, known for winning The Ultimate Fighter 14, had a fight in Russia's Fight Nights Global promotion that ended in bizarre fashion. During the second round of his showdown with Ahmed Aliev, Brandao was hit with a headbutt on the chest, causing the referee to step in. Before the referee could separate them, Aliev threw a flurry of strikes at Brandao, causing Brandao to respond with an illegal upkick. This resulted in frustration from Brandao, who hopped over the fence, despite the referee pleading with him to stay. He was eventually led back in, but the fight was already over, with Aliev declared the winner via TKO due to retirement.

7: Jonathan Ivey vs Travis Fulton:

In 2018, during the matchup between Jonathan Ivey and Travis Fulton, the fight took an unexpected turn. Initially dominating, Ivey unleashed a barrage of punches and ground-and-pound on Fulton. Yet, in a bizarre twist, Ivey suddenly ceased his assault, stood up, and voluntarily conceded the match. Later, Ivey clarified that Fulton was his idol, and he tapped out out of profound respect, wishing to avoid inflicting further harm. This remarkable display of sportsmanship and admiration added a unique chapter to the annals of MMA history, illustrating the bond between competitors transcending the confines of the cage.

8: Chris Lytle vs Uriah Hall:

Chris Lytle, renowned for his extraordinary durability, entered the Octagon against Uriah Hall at UFC 168. However, the fight swiftly tilted in Hall's favor, as he dominated proceedings, culminating in Lytle succumbing to a powerful right hand. As the round concluded, Lytle turned to his trainer, questioning whether he had been knocked out, and made the decisive declaration that he was finished. This pivotal moment marked the conclusion of Lytle's illustrious tenure in the UFC. His choice to prioritize his well-being and acknowledge the limits of his endurance encapsulated his wisdom and respect for the sport. Although it marked his final appearance in the UFC, Lytle's legacy as one of the most durable fighters in MMA history remained indelible, resonating with fans and peers alike.

9: Pat Smith vs Fabio Gurgel:

In 1997, amidst the intense clash between Pat Smith and Fabio Gurgel, an unprecedented incident disrupted the match. As Gurgel sought a takedown, Smith, in desperation, clutched the ropes for defense, triggering an unexpected intervention by a spectator. Frustrated by this intrusion, Smith engaged in a heated altercation with the official, leading to his impulsive decision to quit the fight on the spot. This extraordinary event left an indelible mark on MMA history, emphasizing the importance of maintaining vigilance and upholding the integrity of the sport within the octagon. The incident served as a stark reminder of the need for respect and adherence to regulations, underscoring the significance of fair competition and sportsmanship in MMA.
